Lodge help needed

I just found this forum and have been reading lots of posts. Lots of helpful information!

When I was young I went on several family vacations to the Gracefield QC area to Lake Victoria Lodge. The fishing was good and we always had a great time. It was very peaceful and not very built up. I believe the lodge closed and I can't find anything about that lodge or lake at all.

Now my buddy and I would like to take our sons on a similar trip. I am looking for a fishing lodge in the SE ON or SW QC area where we can fish for bass and pike. So far I have been looking at a few places in the Gracefield area as well as the Rideau area. Location matters less than good fishing for the boys. I prefer an american plan but that isn't a show stopper. I have a boat but we may need another one as well.

If you have any suggestions I would appreciate it!!!

Nangor Resort or Laurentian View Resort near Westmeath/Beachburg/Pembroke
area are both great for multi-species fishing.Nangor has a restaurent on site if you don't feel like fishing.

I stayed at Melody Lodge on Cranberry Lake last year. It is part of the Rideau system north of Kingston. The fishing was good for bass and pike and I beleive they have an American plan.

These two places are on Newboro lake, part of the Rideau system. Great fishing, lots of water to fish between the locks.

Charles Varin - He runs a nice operation and will go out of his way to put you on the fish. My family has been going there for over ten years now. A direct phone call is the best way to reach him. Call him later in the evening to have the best chance to reach him.

Check out the places in our <a href="http://www.fish-hawk.net/index.php?page=58">Adventure Center</a>. I've been to quite a few of them and they're great.

Check out Nordlaw Lodge on Bob's Lake, Holiday Manor on Loughborough or Stirling Lodge on Newboro Lake. I've to all three at least three times. Holiday Manor is not great as far as accomodations, it like dorm rooms but the lake rocks. Bob's Lake is great for numbers, ok for size. Stirling Lodge is very comfortable. The lake or lakes as there are several that connect are beautiful. The fishing for me was so-so. I would rank Loughborough as the best for Pike and Bob's for Bass numbers. I'll be at Bob's the week after Bass season opens. Good luck!

My best friend's family had an island on the river below The Salmon Hole. Grew up there, fishing for bass but catching everything.
Fished a lot of trout streams too. If you want see how good you are with a fly rod try a Pennsylvania trout stream.

I'm a fly fishing novice--My eldest son is the "expert" on that. He makes his rods himself out of bamboo. Good enough that a local tackle shop sells them. Very expensive. He takes me out, but I'm along for bonding time. I would rather catch Bass & Muskey on lures.

I had been to Victoria Lodge 8-10 times in the late 70's to 80's, between the ages of 10-20. I do know that Eric Draper, the owner at the time, died when his snowmobile sank through the ice on Lake Victoria. That was sometime in the late 80's? He and his family knew how to run a camp! They were great folks. Those were the best fishing trips I had ever been on. I'm looking for a place to bring those memories alive again , and start new memories for my 11 yo boys. I'll never forget the portages to Mud Lake and the bass fishing on 31-Mile Lake!

Victoria Lodge went through several owners/owner groups after Eric's accident. It is now privately owned. Very limited access to the lake. h
However, as others have said Whitefish Lodge is a great place. I've been going up there several times a year for over 20 years. Charlie is a great guy and will get you on the fish. A trip over to The 5 Lakes with Chuck driving is worth the price of admission.
