This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Snags is where you want to be for catfish there. The setup we use is a 1.5-2oz sliding sinker then a couple of feet leader and hook. Very rarely do you get snagged to lose a setup. Maybe a couple of times in one night. Unless you are JOCO, Legally nobody can own any part of a River , but I am sure if Joco went to court he could claim that the spot in front of the 2nd bench is his, becasue he has a lot of money invested in it.

Umm,

Joco or somebody. Would I be able to use a rod etc?
Or what do I need? Maybe I have something suitable?

What is it like to handle one of those cats? Do they have those "barbs" that bullheads have?

Just curious.

Thanks!

I have used a regular 6.5' rod for years , I bought a 9 footer a few years ago just to get the extra distance in my casts., but extra high quality is not realy needed. Average cats are about 2lbs can get a few bigger ones. I use 20lbs braid for the main line so if I get snagged i just pull straight and usually just lose my leader.

By the way those cats have the same barbs that the bullheads have and want it or not you'll get stung one of these times.

If you can get to Lincoln Fields, you hop the western parkway there and it ends at the "catzone".
If you look at the bottom of the map, you will see "river pkwy"...that's where it ends.

As for parking, can you park in the lot next to the blue area??
If not, I think you can park along the front of the Supreme courthouse. Should only be 2 minutes walk.
