Easter weekend marked the first decent fishing on the Detroit River this year. Decent is actually an under statement. Normally this time of year we have 38 degree water, NE winds stirring things up and visibility of just a few inches. So far this year we've had water temps in the mid 40's W and SW winds leaving visibility at times of 5-6ft. Fishing to say the least started off amazing with perfect conditions and a lot of fish still in pre-spawn mode. We landed three fish over 10lbs that weekend. My youngest son Josh who's almost 14 landed two of them. Here's couple pics of those fish.
This current weekend brought a large cold front and loss of 5 degrees in water temps over a 24 hr period. Fishing has been tough for the most part with the numbers and size of fish not being there like last weekend. I think the actual spawn might be having something to do with it aswell as all fish we caught this wekend were spawned out. As you can tell from the picture below of a 28" fish (swallowed a jig deep) they are in no where near the same shape they were compared to a week before.
Fishing down here should be good until late May. If anyone is interested in coming down shoot me a PM and I'll hook up up with any current info I have.

Didn't know about the self promotion rule...... sorry. To answer the question yes I do. I've actually been guiding down here for almost 25yrs. A good chunk of that was as a full time guide. Check the May issue of ODD mag.
