Water Temperature

Post by FishToLive »

What can I use to get water temperature at different depth?

I know there's systems out there in the 500-600$ range but I'm looking for something cheaper.

I have a couple of Big Jons.

pool thermometer....leave it at depth for a little while and then bring it up quickly...it doesn't change temperature that fast...might not be 100% accurate...but it'll be close

I use a DepthTherm from Vexilar. You can get one for about $10. Shows you depth and temperature. Even comes with a chart showing preferred temps by species.

If you can get some old colored lead-core line, your line will also double as a depth gauge. If not, use a sharpie and make a mark on your line at whatever interval you think is best. I use 5 ft intervals.
