If you are slugging the fish up to the boat to measure it is that really immediate release?? I would take a pic while measuring it and have done so in the past. It takes the same amount of time and is still immediatly released.

For the record I will just say that of course I have pics of undersized fish...... even OOS fish.
My defininition of immediate release includes time for a quick pic..... others can define it differently for different situations if they like
Anyway, we are clearly talking about very different things so I'll leave it at that......

That is it right there Bradford...you said it so clearly...We all interprete these rules differently and it is our right to interprete it that way but when does someone make the right call and clarify this rule?? We need to get a group of anglers, and MnR together in a room and don't let them out until they have everything clear. They may not be home for a few months but at least it will be clearer than mud.

Yup...clearer than mud and with even more BS regs and more rules and more opportunity for them to hand out tickets...you seriously want more restrictions, rules and to be concerned over even more law interpretations????almontefisher wrote:That is it right there Bradford...you said it so clearly...We all interprete these rules differently and it is our right to interprete it that way but when does someone make the right call and clarify this rule?? Pretty soon no pics will be allowed...hell ..call in PETA and have them sit in on the meeting as well......or maybe we should have a catch and kill only fishery!!! shhheeese
Be careful what you ask for ...you just might get it...some things are better left alone!!!

Nahh Matt no PETA..just anglers and MnR. No more rules and regs just a better defined regs. Do we all not need this. Look at this post for an example. 20 people interprete the rule 20 different ways. This just makes for total anarchy if you ask me. No Mr. CO I interpreted as this etc...etc...etc. that my friend is a bunch of rubbish and yes does not need to be left alone. I do agree Matt that we have enough regs etc already but a better clarification would be a top priority for me. Heck I will sit in the meetings until it is cleared up. The only problem then is that this post would have had only 4 responses and not the 50 some there is now.muskymatt wrote:Yup...clearer than mud and with even more BS regs and more rules and more opportunity for them to hand out tickets...you seriously want more restrictions, rules and to be concerned over even more law interpretations????almontefisher wrote:That is it right there Bradford...you said it so clearly...We all interprete these rules differently and it is our right to interprete it that way but when does someone make the right call and clarify this rule?? How about this:
Any fish caught OOS must be released at boatside with proper releasing gear at the ready and must not be removed from the water for any other reason but to remove hook etc. No pictures will be taken of any OOS fish at any time. Seems pretty clear to me. Or this:
When catching an in season fish that needs to be checked for slot size you must make sure you have all gear ready to go and the fish must be measured and returned within 1 minute of catching if not within slot regulations. If revival of fish is required then fish must be in the water when reviving at all times. No pictures of fish not within slot size aloud. See how I have clearly stated that no pictures will be taken and have given specific time lines to get fish back in water.
Still not perfect but within 1 minute I have cleared a bit of confusion. How hard was this...???? It wasn't hard at all.

Too bad about not having any camera... that would have been pretty cool to see the moose...
Big fish too... here's hope'n you get a crack at her/him again... this year and every other year...
I heard on a show the other day bass are territorial, so maybe it will be around... if that is a true statement.

Only with the current regs Matt myself included but if it were stated as such then they would not do it because it was the regs right??? Or would they ignore the rules and become one of "those " people they keep complaining about. Yeah we would not see as many musky pics etc but who cares it would be the law.muskymatt wrote:I do believe with that statement you have alienated 90% of the anglers on this board...No pictures of fish not within slot size aloud. Yeah that works for sure Matt leave them on your wall and I will leave mine there as well ( which is only one small guy ) but I was just trying to show that if it was clear in the regs then there would not be a need for discussion. And what is wrong with not taking pics of fish out of the slot limit?? So would you be one of those guys then that breaks the law just to have a pic of an out of slot fish?? Then you may as well break all the regs and keep OOS species as well. Why stop with one reg broken.
I am not pointing fingers at anyone but if it is a reg in the book clear as day then I am sure you would not do it right?? I am pretty sure Richard would not if it was a reg and many many others as this is our holy bible sort of. We would not be the anglers we strive to be if we did not follow the regs.
Peter out as well.
