But Markus that Joe Blow comes on here and is told it is ok by the majority, now that Joe blow is now 100, well lets say those 100 visit another 10 boards so now Joe Blow is 1000 and that's just in one week. Ever heard of the snowball effect? next thing you know we have thousands of bass off their beds for what a picture of an ilegal fish?
Yes we have one of the best fisheries here and all over Ontario but if we sit back and don't take care of it we can lose it real fast. The regulations are there to protect the fisheries and you can't tell me taking 15 seconds for a picture of an in season fish harmless vs. a 15 second pic of a bedding bass then you'll never get it.
Please tell me taking a picture of a 45 inch muskie in season more harmfull in the Ottawa then the Rideau? You guys keep attacking the muskie anglers for what? because we are hard core conservationist? Makes no sense to me if at least you were going after someone causing damage like the B1 last year and all other bass tournaments on opening weekend where we all know many pre fish during the closed season.
For crying out load go after the bad guys.
P.S. My avatar muskie isn't 54 but over 45 pounds LOL but not sure if 2002 had a 44 or 54 limit.

TM: Who are the "Bad Guys"?? You come off by saying guy's attack the Muskie guy's?? I'm not on this site very often, so excuse me if I'm wrong.
Why are you beating on a guy who was "Pike" Fishing, and caught a OOS Bass?? Why ARE YOU?? Picking on Bass guys for fishing tourney's in open season?? You claim you know of guys "Pre-Fishing" OOS Bass to secure money in the up-coming tourney?? Then that's ILLEGAL!!!! But you post you know of this illegal action, but do nothing but cry about it on a public forum???????????????????????
You say "The Muskie" Comunity is picked on, TRY STEELHEADING!!!!!!!!!!!
I drove for 8 yrs to The Eastern Basin of Lady O for clean up's, log jam removeals, Stocking programs, even to the CRAA For help with the Hatchery, the CRAA Tourney, to raise funds for the future of the fisheries, that you claim you spent 200$ on for a bag of tackle... I COMMEND you on that to help out, and not only the fisheries, but a close personal friend BIG JIM, but take 200$ and see how far that gets ya in gas over 8 years from Ottawa to Toronto.
I love Muskie, I love Bass fishing, AND I LOVE MY STEELHEADING! Join a few other boards there Rich, you think that Muskie guys are the ONLY Conservation minded fishermen/women?????????
I'm also ALLERGIC Highley ALLERGIC to fish, don't stop me from a solid day out fishin Crappies, not does it stop me from fishing Whitefish on frozen or soft water...
I could post 1000 pics of the Conservation not only for the steelheading, but other types of fish not only I, but many others go through to see a better fishery for us, our young, and those generations to follow.
You are a Muskie guy, and that alone, If someone posts an OOS fish pic, tredd litely, there are men, women and children on this site that tend to learn from the posts. Not to read )(*&^%$#@! Bashing the person for trying to better the fishery by posting, it was incidental to catch the fish, but to educate those who might not know.
If you caught the fish on purpose, your a F**K! If it was an accident, and you were out with your daughter, or an In-Law who does not fish, the opp presents itself, take the pic, and take that to inform, or teach not only your fishing partner, but take the story and try to educate others on forums such as this.
I'd love to get into this in another way, but bashingt a guy who was NOT Fishing for bass, and just wants to share his story, for those who give him/her grief, pee pee off and go fishing.
My 2 pennies worth:

Nothing you write about makes sense I will quit debating but will use short responces for your bad judgement.
I didn't beat on Yannick I congratulated him, I took offence on the guys who came on and encouraged ilegal actions.
All those years Lefaivre held their tourney on opening weekend I reported all the ilegal poaching but we're to far for the MNR to bother. I can't remember ever seeing a CO out here and I've got well over 1000 days on the water.
Everytime the OOS picture topic comes up a bunch of guys try and compare it to taking pictures of muskies in season, no way it's even close.
My god the mention of my son's tackle was to say I'm starting him on multispecies fishing as we move to the river. This last Big Jim auction as well as the last MCI lotery I've donated a $525 day on the water so naturally you misinterpreted everything I was typing.
I'm not bashing anyone but those breaking the law, I just try to educated and nothing more.

Markus the definition might be the same but no CO will fine you for doing it in season but I can't say the same for a baas off it's bed weeks before the season opens. It's like J walking or doing 90 in an 80 zone kind of like a buffer zone or grace period.Markus wrote:I'm not debating the level of harmfulness...my point is you change your "legal definition" of immediate release based on your personal opinion.
I don't know why you are so for the ilegal actions of taking OOS fish pics. It baffles me.

I'm neither for or against it...mostly because neither are illegal. Taking your 90 in a 80 zone is a good example...80 is a defined measure. It doesn't say "do a reasonable speed". Until immediate release has some real time assosiation, it'll always just be left up to inturptation. No judge will ever convict a person for photographing a fish.

Spoke to a CO I know today and asked about photographing a short muskie before releasing and his take was that if done quickly and you had a full licence it was not a problem. If you had a conservation licence he would take your camera as proof that you had a muskie in your possesion. It was his take that you couldn't target muskie with a conservation licence.
This is contrary to anything I had ever believed and I have been targeting muskies exclusivly since the conservation licence first came out. I once had the clerk in the MNR office tell me I couldn't fish muskies on a conservation licence ,I purchaced one anyway. As I have turned 65 I now have the full licence for FREE.
I intend to speak to two other CO's I know and ask for their take.
