There is little to no $$ for roads this year on Chemin Bois-Franc and Lac Jim. I've seen the graders go up as far as Gillies and Jim Lake then turn around. No reports of any major washouts this spring up to Galarneau. It's been years but we have had the car up to the 70km marker a couple km before Bryson Lake Lodge and not far from my dads moose hunting camp on L'Achgan Lake. When ya get off of the main road, DON'T take BB444's advice and drive like Jeff Gorden on the access road

I know that most of those side roads and trails are for high clearence vehicles only. According to my dad, while there is still a lot of logging going on up that way, it's not half bad compared to say 10-15 years ago. It won't help the roads but will keep angling pressure to a low. Apparently Duval had a very nice road bulled right to the lake a number of years ago but can imagine with less logging going on in the area, it might be a bit rougher nowadays. Your in a true anglers paradise once past the major party lakes like Galarneau and Jim(Not that they should be overlooked). My aunts cottage is on thr north side if Gillies Lake(Private) and that lake still produces some decent splake, brookies and smallmouth even with the new lodge packed with Americans yearly and fishing pressure at it's all time high on that lake. Il be up that way for lakers, splake and bass soon.
Always wanted to fish Duval, it's been on the hit list for a couple years...Maybe next... Most of the other big lakes in the area have great populations of lakers that can grow quite large and quick too. Bryson Lake is known for having a couple fish every year caught up to 10-15lbs+ caught although your paying for the rights to fish those suckers. It's such a beautiful area.
Good luck and please report on your success or lack of. It's a very busy area in the spring but the pressure tapers down quick right around this time of year. On the same note, we could almost fill the bed of a truck with garbage left from campers and fisherman on some sites..some of the trash was over 20 years old! Peices of $HIAT! Do your part while up there and feel good about it after
Good fishin'
