Looking for Opinions on Sylvan boats

Post by Hookup »

I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place.

I want one boat, but it's out of my budget... or at the very best at the very top...

A reasonable budget brings me to looking at the Sylvan Explorer Sport 1700.

I'm most interested in longevity of the boat, fit/finish issues/quality of build, quality of materials.

Anyone have one, or have any ideas/thoughts on them (company or that model)?

Hookup,
I had been looking for the PERFECT 16 footer for a few years. fINALLY FOUND OUT THAT nothing IS PERFECT....EVERYTHING IS A COMPROMISE!
Anyway long story short... after checking out EVERY boat there is on both sides of the border I finally bought a 2007 Sylvan Explorere 1600 DC with Mercury 75 Hp 2 stroke and have been VERY satisfied with it.
I went with the maximum HP allowed and very glad I did. You don't have to use it all but sure is nice to have when you need it.
No issues so far! (touch wood!)
If I were to do it all again... I would buy the same boat but get the better trolling motor and fish finder. The ones that usually comes with it in the "fishing pkg" is definitely entry level.

Make sure the dealer throws in some touch up paint as it is difficult to get it later...don't know why!!

Any questions, just PM me
