Eli I'm not sure awesome is the word I'd use to describe that. Sick and disturbing is the first thing I thought and probably illegal where this was done. As someone else said this video says it all.

Sure, probably very much illegal.
But the ferocity of that thing is awesome nonetheless.

As furious as this makes me, I have to avoid being hypocritical, because I've done the same thing with goldfish and piranha... But seeing a big ol' bass being torn to shreds still gets my blood boiling.

And it definitely is worrying to think these things might be swimming in our waters... that's bad friggen news.

That thing was ready to bust through the glass to get at the bass.

I think that one in the video is a giant Snakehead luckily, I dont think they are not found in North American ......I hope. Not that having any species of Snakehead in our waters at all would be good.

BTW- several anglers think there will be snakehead tournaments soon. They strike lures like a bass and eat well in skillet (so I've been told).
I fish the Potomac and Occoquan 20 times a year +/-, never caught one...
The excitement about them has really calmed down in the last two years.

Snakehead is in several states as far north as NY and Michigan and a few have been caught in Lake Michigan.

I don't think it's a case of "if" it''s a case of when. Might be 10 years from now, hopefully more than that.

Pretty sure they're in the St. Lawrence too, my uncle said he saw some there off the shore of an Island he was working on.

I read the second link on them...looks, acts and is related to a dogfish. its basically an Asian dogfish. If that is the case then not a damned thing to worry about. Lots of Dogfish in the lakes down here. While they probably eat the odd bass they are a whole lot slower than a bass and of no impact on the fishery. I've caught a few and they are so slow they are incapable of catching even a moderately retreived spinnerbait. They rarely hit a lure.
