The Musky Fishing Gods Were With Me Last Night

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

The Musky Fishing Gods Were With Me Last Night

Post by Scaini33 »

So Thursday night I decided that friday would be a good night for some fishing on the rideau. So I told my dad to make sure he leaves work on time because were going fishing as soon as he gets home. Later on that night I asked my girlfriend if she could watch the dog while I go fishing and she says "didnt you remember we had to go to a friends for dinner" DARN! so there goes that idea.

Friday as I'm at le baron getting my dad a fathers day gift, I get a call from my girlfriend saying that she cant make it to the dinner and I will have to watch the dog. Alright.... fishing is a possibility now. So my dad gets home and I said ok dad lets go. My dad replied with "no not tonight, you have the dog im tired, its ok we can go another day" I agreed with him but five mins later I realized how stupid that was, it was too nice not to go fishing. So I yell out "dad get changed Im hitching the boat up, the dogs coming too"

A half hour later we were on the water. I was fishing my fav weed line for some panfish. Not too many bites. So I decide to try out my new musky rod for the first time. As i'm reeling it in I decide to check out the action of my new lure and out of nowhere it appears. "Holy crap! Dad check it out!" so from watching many episodes of musky hunter i know i should be doing a figure 8 at this point and right at the top of the eight it hits. It was a good fight and it took us four tries to get it in the net but i landed it. My first Musky on my first cast on a new rod and lure! We weighed it in the net and it was just under 30lbs. I didn't get a measurement because i wanted to release it asap. I've been thinking about it ever since.
