Bass Opener ideas

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Its a pretty big lake with LOTS of areas that hold good sized largies and smallies. Very clear water, some very deep weedlines that can be key to catching pigs. Boat traffic shouldn't be any different than a typical weekend (busy but not too bad really, lots of recreational/yachts, not as many bass fishermen than most lakes).

The Big Rideau is over 16000 acres in size.

There are several ramps that access the lake in different areas. Depending on how big of a boat you have and what are you after (smallies or LMB) would determine which area you should launch from.

Give me an idea of that and I'll give you a location or two to launch.

Oh, yea.............welcome to Fish-Hawk

have you considered Rice Lake. I've never fished it but it is closer for you and I've heard good things about the lake

I'll be on Bob's Lake next Monday. Not far from Big Rideau. Not much traffic and usually good numbers of bass.

Big Rideau

Post by Joey Rat »

I'm down to the Big Rideau for the first 5 days of bass season. I'll be camped at Murphys Point Provincial Park. There is a good ramp in the park.

It can be a busy place with lots of large boat traffic since it's part of the Rideau Canal system but as others have said it's a big lake and lots of fish.

It's definately worth a look.
