How was your opener?

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

How was your opener?

Post by Trisomy21 »

Me and my buddy were up at 4:00 and out at 4:45, went over to a little secluded bay to use some top waters, pulled in a 5.6 and a 4.8 then rain, rain rain rain rain. Refueled on coffee and went back out and caught a couple other nice ones.

What was your best today?

2.5 and 1.5 on Mississippi Had quite a few ons but they chucked the bait. If I could of stayed longer I know I could of had alot more. Did watch my buddy rail a 5lb pickerel though. Too bad it broke loose of the fish chain.

Can't wait to see the pictures of those monsters. My opener was not about size just caught a lot of them.
When hell freezes over, I'll be there icefishing!!!

Hit some b-list spots around Rockland since all the good spots already had 1414125 boats on them. 1 largemouth, 10 pike, lots of Cane Toads and Tiki Toads missing legs. Got 2 smallies in the evening jigging for walleye. Hoping to get out one weeknight this week for some peaceful fishing.

hit up my two favourite spots, one on the rideau river, the other on the canal - no bass but caught a huge bluegill and something REALLY ugly - it was about 10 inches long, VERY wide head/mouth that tapered towards a narrow tail and had crazy barbels on its mouth.

I am thinking it was a catfish?? If it was its the first one I have ever seen. I was a bit afraid to touch it since I heard they have poisonous spines.

I looked up Brown Bullheads and it didn't look like that at all, since it was a lot more tapered but I can't see what else it could have been. Caught it on a shiner I was jigging up and down in some weeds.

Also saw a MASSIVE carp that must have been at least 20lbs just chilling in the canal. All in all a very enjoyable relaxing afternoon :).

Hey guys,
We went to a couple of lakes.
We had a great weekend fishing caught and released lots of bass in numbers. The largest bass was around 3 lbs. A few pike, and tons of panfish.

I am happy the smallies seem to be following my boat again.

Happy kids all around. Lots of fun. I can't wait 'til next time. We are going to head out Canada Day.
Cheers,
Dave

Went to Shirley's Bay for the Ottawa opener, one dink smallie and a walleye in 4 hours.
Went to the Rideau out of KARS today, first at the launch which was nice, came back to the launch around 12, tons of trailers and yakers to be found.
Witnessed a half dozen decent blowups on the surface in 20-30ft, had a nice 40+ muskie follow my white senko to the boat. On the next cast, he exploded on the surface for it, but missed. That was the last I saw of him.
My boat ended up with around 6 decent largies, biggest was 17" and 3.9lbs on the scale. If the pics get sent to me by my partner they'll be posted.
