Well, as fate would have it, the walleye fishing was the best I've ever seen since moving out here. The day started off great with a walleye within the first 2 mins of trolling. Soon after, bang, big fish! I land a 4lbs 10oz eye. Back he goes. More trolling, more keepers. After an hour or so we have 4 eyes and 2 crappie in the well. Two dry trolling runs and we decide to waste an hour trying to get topwater bass...no takers. As we're slowly getting out of the slop, "Fish On!" says Pat. Must be a pike, we're still in the weeds....nope, keeper walleye #5. That's it for the keepers, he's got enough for tonight and one meal in the freezer. Then we spent the next 3 hours, hooking, fighting, and releasing fish after fish, after fish. When all was said and done we had gotten: over a dozen walleye including a 4.10, 4.6, and 3.1, and a couple more in the 2 to 2.5 range, a dozen or so pike, 4 crappie, 1 largemouth, 3 channel cats, 1 sheephead, 5 or 6 bullhead, a few bluegill and pumpkinseed and at least 30-40 perch.
UNREAL!!!
