Some Bass Opener Action

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Some Bass Opener Action

Post by steve-hamilton »

A group of five of us took to the north for our 2010 Bass Opener. We actually split our trip into two lakes located in very different sections of the province.
We started in the Haliburton area then ended in the far north where Large Mouths still roam.

We fished for five days and spent three more driving. Fishing conditions ranged from cool 66 degree post spawn all the way to warm 74 degree almost summer time patterns.

Four out of five of the anglers caught their personal bests. The trip is going to go down into history as our best ever! Here's a few select shots from the hundreds we took. Massive fish with quality numbers of solid fish were the menu...only thing that stopped us was the challenging weather...but what can ya do...well, you can go fishing!

(don't forget the rods  )

24/7, we rig as follows.

i run straight braid, no leader.

put your worm weight on first, then slide your punch skirt up, then tie your hook.

i know some folks put their punch skirt on first, so it covers the weight, but i tried it, and didn't like it....i like the weight (pegged) holding the skirt down over the bait.

we ran punch skirts on flippin tubes, beavers, and even senko's.

they are made by paycheck baits.

Holy buckets. Great report Steve :)

I'll be purchasing some punch skirts next time I see them. Actually read about them not too long ago and it had me thinking of the endless ways you can rig it. Super fish man!!
