Honda 7.5 issues

I was wondeing if anyone has ever had an older Honda four stroke outboard or knows anything about them. I have an old blue and white "b75" model 7.5 hp outboard. Every time I take it out I have different issues.(hard start,won't idle,cuts in and out at higher speed) and then other times it works great. Are these really finnicky first generation 4 strokes or is my motor just in need of a more serious tune up from a seasoned pro and not my backyard mechanic's apprenticeship skills?

Sounds like dirty carb to me. Try running some Sea Foam in your gas for a bit. If that does not clear it up you may be in for a removal/ cleaning.Napa auto parts carries the Sea Foam engine treatment.

Did you try changing the spark plug? IS there a filter in the fuel line?
