Muskrat tourney this weekend question
Good afternoon,
I just saw that there is a SEBO tourney on Muskrat this Sunday and I am just wondering what that means for Saturday? Is there going to be a ton of boats out pre-fishing or do they tend to leave it alone a few days before? I'm thinking of heading out there on Saturday and just don't want to get to the launch Saturday morning to see 50 guys lined up to get their boats in...
Any thoughts or previous experiences?
Cheers

You'll be plenty fine at those times.
Last time I was there the launch had a lot of sand on it so you might think you are launching from the beach.
If you standing at the launch looking at the water, use the right side (the driver's side when backing down). It's in better shape than the other side.
HTH,
Doug

Fishing isn't a matter of life and death....
It's much more important.

I'll be honest. FH.Net is directly responsible for the angling pressure on Muskrat Lake. Way back when....little was known about muskrat. In fact, when we held a get together there for site members, maps and fish specie charts were handed out to participants becasue no one even knew what was in the lake.
Since then, it's been muskrat this and muskrat that year after year. It's one of FH's go to recomendation lakes when new anglers ask. A lot of traffic is dirrected there all year long.
Is that a bad thing...I have no idea. Does it frustrate long time locals who use to enjoy an empty boat launch and some peace and quiet... likely.

Well then the locals can do what I have done with the lake I am on that has seen increased pressure.......................................GET OVER IT!. There is nothing that can be done to stop it now. What is done is done...move on continue life and maybe go find a new lake to fish that is not so busy. I haveMarkus wrote:I'll be honest. There's a tinny, aluminum fishing boat, sea-doo, pleasure boat and/or a party barge on the shores of almost every house and cottage that lines Muskrat. Those locals make plenty of noise on their own and get good use out of the launch.
The MNR has been stocking Muskrat with thousands of lakers for years. Some of those locals have had more than a few good meals as a result.
The boat launch sees just as many Sea-Doo and Four-Winns trailers as Princecraft and Triton. If the Sea-Doo and Four-Winns trailers want parking spots that are closer to the launch, they should get up earlier.
And there is not a bass tournament on both Sat and Sun of every summer weekend as so many "locals" would like you to believe.

I kind of thought that fishing loon was speaking about the tournements finding a new home for a couple of years...If directed at me, meh...I get being upset if I was to move in with a charter boat and was bringing hundreds of people through every week, I'd be a little P.Oed myself if that happend on my lake, but I think for the average angler, such as myself, who may only go to Muskrat a couple of times a year, I don't think it is the guys like myself causing any problems, but I could see people getting upset if their what was a quiet lake was now a tournement haven a few weekends of the year.
In any case, I'm heading up there on Saturday to see if I can put into practice what moonshine had taught me (Thank you by the way!) I had never used a downrigger until moonshine taught me how to! How sad am I? As long as the cable doesn't get stuck in the prop I'll be a happy man!
