Lakers

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Lakers

Post by moonshine »

This past week I spent 5 days fishing Lakers and camping but got skunked. Out of 7 guys fishing only 4 small ones were boated. I came home yesterday a little disappointed.
This afternoon after cleaning up my gear I had a well deserved nap. (pushin' 50 ya know, lol). I decided to take the 10 minute drive to a local lake. I launched and traveled a couple miles up the lake and set out my down-rigger. After about 1/2 hour I caught a nice little 4 lb'er. Even though I never removed him from the water, revival failed. So into the live-well he went. about an hour later I landed this fat pig, I never weighed it but it was 31 inches long with 19 inches in girth.

sorry for the picture quality, i was alone.

I was fishing in 130 FOW and the rigger was at 50 ft. I was using a Lucky Strike #3 Canoe spoon. Water temp was 75F.

here is the release

Nicely done moonshine, loved the release shot, glad to see you got her to go.

Will be out after Lakers this morning on one of my favorite lakes. Will troll for awhile, if they don't want to co-operate will try
RJ's dropshotting method, with a filet of frozen herring. If the wind is not too strong.

Wish me luck

Great laker and loved the release video. Love it when they swim away like that.

Sadly I let a good one go yesterday and didn't have a good feeling afterwards. Hopefully it was ok.......

Congrats on a great fish there!

the one i had to keep could swim but he couldn't go back down. it was as though there was too much air in his bladder. when he pulled off the release he came to the top right away. so i figure he came up too fast.

Very nice fish, well done.
All fishermen are liars except for you and me, and to tell you the truth, I'm not sure about you.
