BOW MOUNT FOOT PEDAL

Post by almontefisher »

Hey All: Just broke the foot pedal for my bow mount trolling motor. Anyone know what needs to be done to fix this. Is it something fixable??

Mine went about a month or so ago as well. I called Paddletales and Ed ordered the Co-pilot (minnkota) for me and it's been awesome. I think I paid around $100 more than the cost of a new foot pedal. Awesome.

so must have been something in the air.. my footpedal stopped working on Saturday right at the start of a few days off:( RJ helped out with a connection to the Minn Kopta service people in Ottawa but I guess footpedals for these are very hard to come by.. if anyone has one pm me!

looks like a new terrova 80 with I pilot, transducer is the reaplcement motor.. $1600... IF you can find one...

paddling the Ranger this week will be hard though :(

What's wrong with the foot pedal? What does it or rather what doesn't it do? I might be willing to take a look at it if you would like.

The pedal does not control the turn of the motor any more

Hey Pete

Had the same problem, was just binding. Raised the motor one inch and no more problem. Worth a shot.

I had some trouble before a couple of times with mine. The unit was not turning with my foot petal. I use mine a lot, I took the device apart and sprayed the boards underneath it with air can designed for cleaning electronics. If there is any dust, mud or other particles on the boards it can affect the preformance of the device.
Maybe worth a try.
Good luck

If you're going to crack it open go to the Source or any other electronics shop and ask them for contact cleaner. I think that Canadian Tire even sells it. This stuff will help dissolve any crud that has accumulated and it will also help protect the contacts in the future. If the contacts are really full of stuff, try using very fine sand paper or even emery cloth will work. Before you put it back together put a little dielectric grease on the contacts so this won't happen again. If you want me to take a look at it drop me a PM and we can set something up. Always willing to help out.
