Am I missing something ???

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Hopefully the mods not be selective... it is hard to sanction, penalize or ban someone you know.

They have their work cut out for them.

Good stuff muskymatt... well put together.

I think I can say I've seen it all on here. Being a moderator at one point was a real eye opener. It is literally a full time job. The criticism they receive is so out of line it is not funny. They are volunteers doing this simply because they like the site and donate their time. Everyone has an opinion on how things should be dealt with, sometimes you like it sometimes not.....It is always a judgment call.

The general banter that goes on is nothing that doesn't go on at EVERY other busy fishing message board out there....yes people get upset about fish being kept, held wrong, caught OOS and whatever else can set you off....is it upsetting at times?...to some yes...but once you learn how to avoid that it's clear sailing...people do need to get some thicker skin if they do decide to post their lives publically.....

If you take the time to attend an event, get-together or hop into one of those open seat offers you will never regret it and will make friends for life I'd bet....I have...often.

The thoughts of "this board was way better before" to me is 100% false. At times it's been WAY worse than it is now....

The ZERO tolerance idea was always a stretch to live up to.....again it is the judgment call of a volunteer...I'll assume that the fella that went a little bonkers the other night was dealt with and will be taking a much needed break for a bit....no biggie. Let's move on.

I do think if everyone stopped trying to "fix it" and simply went out and fished.....did a report....the bad would get completely lost in the good.

RJ ... you've captured exactly what I wanted to say and more ... only you've said it better ... this kind of stuff goes on at every site ... it gets dealt with and we all move on ... I think for FH what makes it so popular and unique might also make it open to more personal posts ... because its local you are posting to people that live a short drive away, or perhaps you even know, or you might meet out on the water or at a tourney ... it's not like other sites where you are disagreeing with someone in Pennsylvania who you have little chance of ever seeing ... maybe for some people that makes a difference and they get personal because they CAN get personal ...

In the end this is all just "noise" to me ... its about the fish ... plain and simple ...

Kids are in bed so now I gotta go have a few pops ...[/u][/i]

well I have only joined FH this summer. I first came to check out the classifieds and found myself loving every minute of reading everyone posts. It is so obvious to outsiders, but we need to be reminded of just how passionate we are about our sport. we defend it, praise it and poke fun at it. even sometimes we criticize it. but most of all we love it. this is THE place that we can connect with others that love the sport too.
whether it's sharing time in a boat, reports, tips, advice or friendly jabs, we are extremely lucky to have this site. besides, when we are on here, our wives know exactly where we are, lol
