a night of trout - late long weekend report

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

a night of trout - late long weekend report

Post by scuro »

Had a few hours to fish on the monday of long weekend and went to my favourite trout lake. I had a bow on within minutes (no pic) but then had some gear problems and then fished for about two hours.

A BE-U-tiful fish

Another purdy one

For some reason they seemed to be gathered within a small area

Caught this fellow probably in between 20 and 30 ft.

Another brown later in the night.

...and finally my second bow. Had a monster hit as I was coming in. I had no light so I couldn't go back fer her. Next time.

Spoons? Mepps? Were they close to shore... under wood? What time of day?

Sorry for all the questions, but this interests me quite a bit!!!!

Ahh this brings back a lot of memories .. i haven't caught trout for a bit ... you never get used to that colour ..especially the rainbows ... looks like you had some luck with small spoons .... gotta like the silver spoons and perhaps a red devil ...

Thanks for these pics ... now i'm homesick ...

All right...spoons one was a small sutton...the purple one I don't remember the brand name....but small and narrow with a dimpled texture and copper back. The first bite was around 5 and the last around 8 pm. It was steady but picked up as things started to dim. Lost about an hour to reel failure and repair. They were mid-lake with no visible structure nearby. I believe most were at the end of gradual sloping point. I don't have sonar but hit weeds off of the point. Never seen the hits come that quick and I don't know why that was. Had three I didn't get pics of. We had that cold snap and then some heat and sun. That is my explanation!

And yes...I go out there and catch a few and all is right with the world. 8)

Wow! Excellent looking fish! :D :D

Not sure if I have seen a brown trout before but after seeing how beautiful they are I think I will have to gear up for next season! (In PQ)
