found a pike and released it

I am usually against "bashing" treads but this one really pushed my buttons

I was shore fishing at the arnprior water station and by the old dock i saw a blue cord going into the water and something moving attached to it. It was a nice 2.5 feet pike that somebody caught and left there on a string. I guess (and hope) it was forgotten.

I did released him, he took a few seconds to realized he was free he swam away.

I am not totally against keeping fish. I do keep one or two sometimes to eat right away but... IF YOU ARE TOO DRUNK TO RECALL YOU HAVE ONE ON A STRING DO CATCH AND RELEASE. Release it back so he can get bigger and give another chance to somebody else or you later.

I caught a 10lb. Carp at Rideau Falls and some ethnically diverse man sprinted up to me with a garbage bag and tried to grab the fish off my hook to put in his bag... I smiled at him and released it back to the water. That man was pee pee!

He deserved it though... he was fishing a weight and a daredevle on the bottom... standing around waiting to steal other people's fish!
