I am interested in fishing Skootamatta at the end of July 2011. Can anyone give me any information on lodges on the lake or cabin/house rentals on the lake.
p.s. Just got back from fishing Fernleigh lodge on Kash. lake. Fishing for bass was slow but walleye was great.

The lodge that was on the lake has shut down again. They never seem to last. There are usually many cottages for rent but that time of year is usually pretty tight, best to start looking early. The fishing has been very slow the last 2 years. Partly to blame on the last lodge as it catered to fishing trips and the lake saw HEAVY fishing pressure. Coupled with the high forage base it can be tough. There is lots of structure to tackle though.

You could always stay at a place nearby and day-trip it there.
I love Skootamatta and have caught many 4lb plus smallies there.
Bright spinner baits were the ticket.
It's a big, deep lake with lots of water to fish. Lots of large Muskie and Pike along with lake trout (a nice treat). Not a lot of fishing pressure on these lakes.
