Bass lake
I guess nobody knows Bass lake? Came back from a nice couple of days fishing.Around 15-20 guys fished and a fat 19.5 inch large mouth was the biggest bass and a 29"pike was the biggest pike though we had a 30" on Friday but that did not count (One day tournament). What I did catch were some really big Crappie though. My cottage is on the Ottawa so i normally go into weed beds for pike and bass (rarely catch a largemouth but plenty of 20" smallies)and i have a spot where I go with the kayak to catch Crappie actually blue gills and pumpkin but never as big as the crappies I was pulling out. Luckily someone had a filet knife and really knew how to use it. In fact he was cleaning pike like a pro.
This lake has some weed beds but also has a lot of rocks and plenty of structure in fact the whole shore is almost all rocks, at least where i was. Smallish lake with a couple of Bays maybe a mile or so long and a little less wide?
Not my boat so we mostly trolled and caught plenty of 24" pike but no real big ones like you can get on the Ottawa, no Musky or Walleye either in the lake. Most fish seemed to come from the northern side of the lake. It would probably be a good ice fishing lake if you knew the bottom structure well? I would of fished it a bit differently but was told the weed beds did not hold fish?
My opinion from what I saw and heard is plenty of fish with a 32" pike being as good as it gets and a lot of good 20" bass both small and large mouth. Plenty of Perch as well ( which is probably the fish i like to eat the most)
