LOL!!

You ARE new here!!

Lake names, hints, colors, smells, coordinates and descriptions cause backlashes here like old mono on a cheap baitcaster in a hurricane.

Contrary to what many people believe, stocking alone does not guarantee quality fishing. With respect to trout in Ontario, the MNR's policy has been to provide a "Put, Take & Grow" trout fishery. Unfortunately with small lakes such as those in the Calabogie region, these fisheries become "Put & Take" only, leaving few if any stockers to grow. Toowey Lake is one such lake that gets loaded with brook trout stockers each year, but is practically fished out by ice out in the spring.

In the case where someone posts a report of big trout caught on lake something or other, there will be a significant increase in the number of anglers fishing that particular lake until all you're left with is stockers. Anyone that has managed to find a lake that is producing quality trout knows better than to bring public attention to it.

While naming bodies of water here on FH will simply get you flamed, there are other boards that are much stricter in its enforcement. So much so that you're only give one warning, after which you will be subsequently banned.

Not everyone is going to be catching and also keeping. Fishing pressure does have a sure affect of the poor quality of fishing in some lakes but it's really only one of many issues. The MNR put so many darn trout in some of those little lakes that the fish actually struggle in competition for food and habitat and have a hard time growing.

I'd like attend a G2G this winter for trout or panfish, walleye...whatever!

Count me in 8)

Looking at the calander I am thinking either Jan 15 or 22 which is a Saturday. Ice should be good by that point. Silver lake I think is the lake most want right now except for Billy and O4T which like Farren lake. I will set up another poll with the three lakes and see what happens.
Fishing isn't a matter of life and death....
It's much more important.

Just a suggestion - I recommend planning it for February... the deep lakes are the last to freeze. Would be nice to have enough ice for sleds and ATVs!!
