Squib fire - results

Short version of the story...
Ducks flying, point, fire, squib!!, more ducks coming in, eject empty casing, reload, pull trigger. Lesson... always check your barrel after a squib.

This happened yesterday to a friend. Results below...
Luckily, he was not injured.

Barrel was replaced tonight - thanks to Fish-Hawk classifieds.

What brand of ammo was your friend shooting?

Don't know the brand. He did keep the shell to look into further.

It was more than a primer pop... just enough energy to send the wad down the bbl, a few pellets flew out but in retrospect we now believe that the wad must have stayed behind the choke.

That happend to me twice in one outing a couple of years ago. I was shooting 12 gauge Federal 3 1/2 in bb. Noticed the difference in sound and just happened to check the barrel. Wad was stuck just before the choke and was really hard to get out.

Yikes. Never seen or experienced that before.
Have heard of mud or snow being packed in end of the barre though.

O.k O4T you need to send that to MythBusters...They did a whole episode on trying to make a gun do that and they could not get a good " banana peel " out of it. The story was of some guy who left the bore sight in the barrel and then fired a live shot from it....Well the managed a partial banana peel but with a very old gun and a well used one.

HOLY CRAP!!!

I think you should be able to sell that to the National Art Gallery for at least $5Million... if a black line got $1million.....

I do suggest your buddy follow up with the ammo manufacturer.....

Correct - it is an 1100. Fixed full choke, 30". I'll recommend that he call the manufacturer as suggested.
