This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

i wont be there!

but guys...

if you are heading to 31 mile...

any small heavy lure you can buy.

dont be afraid to punch 75 holes and jump from hole to hole.

dont stay in the same erea all day.

there are PLENTY of whities in that lake.

locate there dept and hook into the school.... they do school up.

chances are if you find one.. youl find 4-5 of them in the same hole.

guys with vex.

search for the clopuds of minnows.

white fish fallow there clouds of SMALL minnows around and feed off of them.

you find the cloud you find the whities.

Also, I won't be able to attend this weekend.
I'm about 20 mins away from Chenaux as well so it'll be about 2 hours before i'll be jamming my grill into a stack of flapjacks.

Will PM next week about meeting up one of these Sundays.

Thanx.....

What size Gulp minnows are used?

I have a tub of 3" Emerald Shiners that has yet to be cracked.

The plan is vehicles on ice.

<<<BUT>>>

If the ice is not acceptably safe for vehicles, there are choices.

1 - Walk.
It is not THAT far... but not too damn close either. Less than a mile. It is exactly 0.7 of a mile.

2 - Change lakes.
There is another lake close by that we can hit with a good population of White Fish... and FAR less to walk.

We have options is the bottom line.

Here is something that I sent another member who PM'ed me about the ice there;

There might end up being two groups... if the ice is iffy... there will be the nuts fishing 31 Mile... the the namby-pamby group featuring you and I and any other guy with a heightened sense of self preservation at Roddick!
There you go!

I'll decide on Sunday morning if I bring the Quad. But if some are driving then I'll drive also.
When hell freezes over, I'll be there icefishing!!!

There is variable ice thickness from the launch to the end of Craigs RED line drawn on the map. There are real slushy spots as the bay feezes in different stages. Basically 3 or 4 large seperate sheets of ice fill this bay.

I would think twice about larger vehicles going out and small vehicles will have issues in the slush.

4 wheelers and sleds would be the best option.

Or just walk it...as Craig said, it's not THAT far...
