I'm about 20 mins away from Chenaux as well so it'll be about 2 hours before i'll be jamming my grill into a stack of flapjacks.MLR wrote:Not sure how long it takes to get from your place down to the border at Chenaux (takes me 20 minutes, but last Sunday I left at 6:10 am and was in Kazabazua at 7:40 I doing the speed limit or just a little over.
Also, I won't be able to attend this weekend.
Will PM next week about meeting up one of these Sundays.
Thanx.....

I'll decide on Sunday morning if I bring the Quad. But if some are driving then I'll drive also.cprince wrote:The plan is vehicles on ice.Wallyboss wrote:Vehicles on the ice or 4-wheelers???? I am not into walking too far.
<<<BUT>>>
If the ice is not acceptably safe for vehicles, there are choices.
1 - Walk.
It is not THAT far... but not too damn close either. Less than a mile. It is exactly 0.7 of a mile.
2 - Change lakes.
There is another lake close by that we can hit with a good population of White Fish... and FAR less to walk.
We have options is the bottom line.
Here is something that I sent another member who PM'ed me about the ice there;
There you go!cprince wrote: Believe me... I am wimpy about ice safety. I saw the Omen II when I was a kid... there was a scene with someone going through the ice.... he was being carried down stream and banging on the ice from underneath the whole way... CREEPY!!!
There might end up being two groups... if the ice is iffy... there will be the nuts fishing 31 Mile... the the namby-pamby group featuring you and I and any other guy with a heightened sense of self preservation at Roddick!
Craig
When hell freezes over, I'll be there icefishing!!!

There is variable ice thickness from the launch to the end of Craigs RED line drawn on the map. There are real slushy spots as the bay feezes in different stages. Basically 3 or 4 large seperate sheets of ice fill this bay.
I would think twice about larger vehicles going out and small vehicles will have issues in the slush.
4 wheelers and sleds would be the best option.
Or just walk it...as Craig said, it's not THAT far...
