Anyone know weight of 85 merc 50 HP 2 stroke

Post by horsehunter »

Does anyone know what the weight of my 85 Merc 50 hp 4 cyl is. it is not in my owners manual

I am thinking of repowering my boat which is a 85 Tracker Tournament 17. The boat is in good shape and dosent leak a drop. The boat is rated fo 80 HP but this was in 2 stroke days.

My choices might be

60 HP Merc 247 lbs
75 HP Merc 399 lbs
60 HP Etec 240 lbs
75 HP Etec 320 lbs

I would also consider a good used motor provided it was new enough to be fuel injected.

Any idea what I could ask for my old 50 Merc works well 150 psi all 4 cyl.
according to the shop that installed a new power pack last Aug.

Thanks Frank

Can't find the weight specific for an '85.. but a '84 50hp Merc was (Model E) 171lbs and the '87 50hp (Model ELPTO) weighs in at 188lbs.

Hope it helps...

So far as I can find, they did not make an 80hp between 1983 and 1989.

1983 80 HP 80EL - 249Lbs
1989 80 HP 80ELO - 265lbs

This is the site that will have most of the info you would need about weight of outboards. There is also a lot of info about bore stroke and displacement.

Call Dave at AIM Marine in Carp, tohatsu is the best motor deal in the industry right now, great warranty, they will take your merc in on trade, he's a Merc machine/repair shop and ottawa's tohatsu dealer, i've seen the tohatsu 40-60 and 90's run, they are sweet and economical.
