Boat Stolen

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Sounds like it's getting to the point where you're going to need to add security systems to your boat, or at least a GPS Tracking system.

Got it on my radar.... might have to do some personal interrogation on this one prior to the cops arriving... just want to be sure that they know what the rules of the game are.

I couldn't help noticing that in your original post you stated: "....The neighbors saw three men (possibly two teenagers and their father) tow the boat away behind a white boat. They did it in such a way that the neighbors felt they did not look out of place. They were not sneaking around- they just came and took it like it was their own....".

I don't want to cast undue suspicion but how well do you know your neighbors ? I find it a little hard to believe they didn't wonder why these strangers were taking your boat, did your neighbors know it was your boat, and if so what did they think was going on ? I'm pretty sure that if some strangers showed up to my neighbors place and began removing a boat I'd be more than a little curious. At a minimum I would have gotten a license plate number, just in case (in my mind, that's being a watchful neighbor). Anyway, I hope you've made a police report for insurance purposes.

A couple of things you might want to consider are posting your stolen boat info (with picture and detailed description, brand, motor size etc.) on Kijiji (ottawa.kijiji.ca), usedottawa.com Craigslist (ottawa.en.craigslist.ca/) in their respective 'boats for sale section'. That way if anyone attempts to sell it you'll have a chance at catching them, and potential buyers will be aware that a stolen boat is out there. Good luck, I hope you find your boat.

That's terrible! I hope it turns up. I have to say though, it seems strange that someone just took it in broad daylight.. How well was it tied? My boat floated away on me last year, took a week before a neighbor found it stuck in some reeds in a bay. Good luck! I'll keep my eye out!

Thinking about it as well.

Whoever did this had an empty trailer prepped somewhere to put that on. They didn't lift that into the back of a truck.
