OPEN SEAT: QC Bass - New Time: Friday AM

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

OPEN SEAT: QC Bass - New Time: Friday AM

Post by cprince »

My fishing partner had to cancel last minute and I am seriously ACHING to get my bass on.

I have a lake where the bass season is open early (Regs to prove it and a call to the MNR)
2.5hrs north in QC.
Never been to this lake before.
Leaving between 6am and 8am Friday morning... depending on who wants to come, from the farm in Alcove.
I have my boat ready to go... or we can take yours if you prefer (Will split gas, but you don't have to if you come with me in my car and boat)
Fish until we get sick of it.

Let me know ASAP... I am going even if I have no takers.. I fished often enough alone.

I was going to go Thursday AM... but my trolling motor battery never charged (Dead outlet!!) and I should probably sleep.

Sounds like a hoot but I'm heading to Big Rideau with plowjock to try and rustle up some lakers.

For the city dweller who is smart enough to take you up on this, bring lots of heavy duty bug juice. The bugs are big and mean this year.
If you're gonna be stupid, you'd better be tough.

Non resident for Quebec is $66.75 way too much. but it is good for a year till march 31st 2014.
Hope this helps.

Craig,

Would have loved to take you up on that, but I was working Thurs. night.

It would be soooooo nice to fish with you in the warm open water rather than when I was freezing my butt of on beautiful but cold, frozen, windswept Lac Saint-Marie with a windchill factor of -6000 degrees.

In my opinion the Quebec Non Resident license is worth every penny considering the number of pics of uber-quality Quebec fish we have seen posted on Fish-Hawk over the years!!!!

So... How was the fishing Craig? Found a partner or did you solo fish?

I buy the non resident annual licence every year as I do most of my fishing in Quebec. However, one can purchase a non resident day pass for about twelve bucks. So... next time around if you want to join Craig or others on a fishing adventure in Quebec, 12 dollars for a day is definitely worth it. Awesome fishing in Quebec!!!
Walleye'm fishing, you're sleeping.

Amazing drive... beautiful lake...

No bass.

LOL...

I suppose that the program of opening bass early in this lake to minimize the impact on the native trout has been largely successful!!

I saw only a couple of bass and they were in no mood for biting.

The lake was tough for me. Not my style at all. Put the nose of the boat on shore and the arse was in 30 feet or water.

Dragged tubes, senkos, jigged, wake bait'ed... nada.

This was a new lake to me, never hit it before. Never will again either!!!! LOL... should have went to one of the other lakes that I know is open for bass right now.

Oh well.... live and learn. This is all part of the process. Some times you drive 500kms and strike out.

Other times, you hit the jack pot... and that makes those zero bass days worth it.

As cliche as it sounds Craig days like that do make the good days feel better eh? My last three trips were either almost fish less or exploratory only. Water temps rising should have the bass less lethargic soon-probably opening day!
