Fishermans worst nightmare happened to me

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Fishermans worst nightmare happened to me

Post by mcwalleye »

Had a HUGE hit on my line- was running a 10 foot heavy action rod and heavy reel, a dingo lure, 50 lb test braid and double 50 lb leaders.. SNAPPED MY ROD IN HALF then snapped my line. by saving the reel I only lost 150 bucks of gear. saw a massive pike/musky kick up some water then it was gone.. suffice it to say I have a score to settle. I will not stop until vengeance and a picture with one of them toothy monsters is MINE. Anyone else have this happen to them?

That one is going to haunt you - hope the fishing gods reward you for the sacrifice!!! We have broken a rod with a fish but that involved dropping the fish on the rod.... never had a line peel and break... DEVASTATING I could just imagine. We can't wait to see your revenge pictures!!! :)

Yep, the drag must've been crazy tight... I've never seen or heard of a rod snapping in half before :character-jason: but hey, I don't fish for monster pike/muskies. :character-jaws: Better luck next time dude.

I cant log in on my phone.. weird.. it spooled most of my line until I set the drag tighter.. I think there must have been a crack in the rod i thought it was odd too.. it was a 2 piece silstar rod, was not a new rod by any means Ive had it for years.. Well as soon as I can Ill be trying again.. Practice makes trophies! a good learning experience that the river monsters arent kidding around..
