Black Donald Lake - ever been?

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Black Donald Lake - ever been?

Post by Alby »

Hey everyone,

Lookin' to do some pickerel fishing for a change on saturday. Anyone have any experience fishing Black Donald Lake for pickerel?

To be honest, i've gotta hard letting anything else other than bass in my boat, but thought I'd mix it up for a day.

Thoughts/opinions?

Thanks everyone.

Hit and miss on that lake, potential to catch some fish is there but no outstanding size. Few lads I work with live up that way and fish it here and there.

2nd this statement. They are there but not easy to pin down!
Fishing isn't a matter of life and death....
It's much more important.

When you leave the lake and head down the river to
the dam there is a log house on the point to the left just as you head in.
Straight out from that point about 150 yards there is a shoal that will come up
from 80ft to about 20ft. Jig this shoal with a 3\8 ounce jig head tipped with a minnow or worm.
You will get some..... they hit there pretty much all day.

Good Luck

My son's been buggin' me to go to a lake where we can "bring home what we catch" as he'd say. Hope this weekend's a good one...

The 50cm minimum on walleye makes it difficult to bring fish home considering the average size in the lake. Haven't been in a few years but in my experience for every 10-15 fish you get one over 50cm.

If you're new to that lake be very cautious,
there's a LOT of UNMARKED lower unit widowmakers in there!!!!
If you don't stand for something,
you'll fall for anything!!
