Dates in the regs are inclusive. Notice how walleye season closes on March 31st on the Ottawa, as opposed to March 1st and not Feb. 28 or 29 in fmz 18. Same goes for sanctuaries, if a place is closed from Date X to Date Y, then both those dates are closed to fishing.banjo wrote:... the wording is TO March 1st... not including March 1st. These are different things. All Ministry Regs are written this way. Ah ha... ( I just had a light bulb go on) as I think about this being related to the Hunting Regs... it is interpreted as "to the end" of the date specified (deer season was Nov 4 to Nov 17...including the 17th)... so in this case it would include March 1st... I get it now.

A local CO has chimed in on the Facebook conversation to clarify that the sanctuary includes the area shown in the attached photo but also continues downstream to a Conc. 3 which is roughly halfway between Hwy 17 and the town of Plantagenet.

Seems like I was wrong with my interpretation of MNR's boundaries of that sanctuary. I had no idea where Conc 4 was ( cause as per this link http://www.mnr.gov.on.ca/en/Business/LI ... 04996.html it shows it just North of Plantagenet) which is the reason I never went past the old piers.
But the northern boundary which is supposed to be CPR right of way ( which I was sure was the old piers that used to support the Railroad tracks bridge) is not even close to those piers?(as per the map attached by FG33) Not sure why MNR would chose that reference??
A few years back when I used to fish that area intensively I had called the MNR office and I had asked about if the CPR right of way was the old piers and I was told that it was? Having fished that area a lot I knew that FG33's spot was one of 2 places, that is why I had asked if it was a bay of the Ottawa river at first, when I was told it was on the Nation I knew that the spot was somewhere south of the old piers.
FG33 I am sorry if I cost you a few customers and thank you for clarifying those sanctuary borders. I sent an e-mail to the MNR for a clarification of those boundaries so that I have a paper proof with me if I ever decide to fish that area at that time of the year.

It would be wise for the MNR to rephrase it to ''100m upstream of the bridge used by the Prescott Russel rec trail in Plantagenet Station to a point X meters upstream of Hwy 17 bridge over the South Nation River (line created by west and east ends of Conc. 3).
