Hi I am new to the site.
I am going to be visiting the Ottawa area from Alberta right around opening day for walleye. I am planning on renting a boat in Hawkesbury and fishing for walleye. I am not familiar with the river. I would appreciate it if someone could PM me with a little guidance for some areas that could be productive. I plan to jig, bottom bounce and use a slip bobber using leeches and minnows. Any help would be much appreciated.

Welcome to the site csi! Idon't know that area too well, but you will want to add crankbaits to your tactics for the opener. The majority of people here jig with live bait or twisters, so cranking behind them will net you numbers and quality. Shad raps are good, lipless cranks and if you wanna troll then bottom bouncers with a floating rapala should do the trick.

Hey Fish-Hawkers,
I just want to thank you for the kind reception! I have been sent some excellent information and generous offers of help. When approaching an unfamiliar body of water, a little local knowledge goes a long way.
Many Thanks
