Report a Poacher
Re: Report a Poacher
Then you could always approach them in a friendly manner.
Engage in friendly conversation to start with...like the weather, sports, or how the fishing is....
Then fart very slowly and quietly....
When the smell starts to permeate you thank them for their time and advise them they may be breaking the rules and leave them with a momento of your meeting.

Re: Report a Poacher
Yesterday I was fishing around someone of foreign descent and we were having some good pleasantries around the weather and what was biting when I caught and OOS smallmouth and he asked if he could have it. I responded no because it's out of season; He responded that because it was over 2 pounds you can keep it.
We had a long conversation about:
- You can not keep bass until the end of June.
- There are no restrictions on what size bass you can keep in this area.
- Restrictions for species that have them are by length and not weight.
- That the season on yellow perch and crappie are open all year but not bass or walleye, etc....
He seemed happy to hear this information and take it to heart. He happily shared this information with his friend.
It makes me wonder if MNR needs to do some community outreach (I know they don;t have the time; Maybe it's something that can happen in the off season).
As I was leaving I saw his friend catch and keep a small smallmouth....
Baby steps....

Re: Report a Poacher
I tried not to reply to this but here it goes,
1. I really don't see any racist comments here but some are more sensitive than others
2. MNR regulations are offered in many languages & I'm not sure there is really an offseason least there isn't for me & my friends
3. Some folks just don't care about rules or laws just how the world works
4.300 posts don't mean shat its quality not quantity
5.to be honest it would be fun to push a poacher but that would be illegal (see #3)
6. Dads will always stand up for their kids it's natural
7.Whatever happen to Fish-hawk?
8.Enjoy the long weekend Boys

It was getting better for a while here while the vultures were on vacation but they are circling again just waiting for anyone they can jump on with useless, disrespectful, sarcastic comments that quite often have little to do with the original post. What happens then is that new members stop joining and many others won't contribute any more due to having to put up with the $hit that stinks this place up at times.riverdog wrote:Whatever happen to Fish-hawk?
Exactly, there were none.riverdog wrote: I really don't see any racist comments here
There is nothing wrong with having a difference of opinion so long as it is expressed respectfully. There is plenty wrong when the only comments some folks can make are degrading to the OP and to others that may have a different opinion. They are lucky that the mod here is pretty lenient because on many forums such flaming (Flaming is the act of posting or sending offensive messages over the Internet.) would not be tolerated. Nor would trolls (Trolls post off-color comments for a number or reasons. They may want to stir up an argument or may simply want attention.)

Re: Report a Poacher
I was out fishing today and seen a bass boat , the guys were throwing spinner baits over weed beds!
Do you think they were poaching? I didn't want to get too close, so as to appear like I was minding my damned business.
Did I do the right thing?

They must have been poachers, spinnerbaits are only used for bass right?

I think the question is did the mnr lay charges or did they just call and tell you they did just to make you happy.I don't think they have the time to fallow this up .And make the fines stick .

What exactly is it that they are doing that they don't have the time to follow this up ???

They are glued to the Fish-Hawk Forum, waiting for pictures of the rod swinging poacher.Bass Addict wrote:niceone wrote:.I don't think they have the time to follow this up .

After all, they don't want to be searching for the wrong poacher and the rod can be easily identified.

Thanks for the replies. Amongst Jimmy's tangential rants he made some good points, not going to bother posting it. I guess I just need to have a thicker skin and not sweat the small stuff.
