Here is what I received as a reply.

Mark- There are several different stories out there right now but here’s the official scoop:



Those figures you quoted are accurate. The $50 is a resident pass for 3 boat launches in the Township…Clay Bank, Red Pine Bay and Burnstown Beach. Non resident rate is $75 for the year. Fines will be eventually issued if people using these facilities are non-compliant but right now we are in the process of erecting proper signage. Until signage indicates the program has been implemented, only a warning may be issued by the bylaw enforcement people. Only Country View has received passes so far, but we are in the process of stocking the other outlets as you indicate below.

Mr. Patterson,

I am writing to you in regards to some conflicting reports as to parking at Claybanks.Braeside and Robert Simpson Park.



I was told by one source that the charge is $ 50.00 for a permit and by another that it is $5.00/day to use the launch and $3.00/day to park.



Also that you can purchase these at the White lake Store, Countryview Mini-mart and at Robin’s (Stinson’s gas) in Braeside.



But when contacted these stores had no idea about these permits. Also there seems to be no signs at any of these launches pertaining to this.



Before I use any of these launches I would like a clarification to this issue.

Hi,

Yes the ticket my buddy received was just a warning.

We were just quetioning how you could issue warnings when there is no signage or news concerning any upcoming changes.

Now we know they are coming.

It would be nice to see a news release somewhere and have a definitive date as to when these changes go into effect.

You can't just say, When we get the signs up or when we have the permits in the stores.

How are we supposed to know that. When I arrive at the launch I find out I have to go back out again to get a permit ?

Pick a date down the road when you think all this work will be completed.

Simple project management.

And what exactly are we getting for our $50.00 besides not getting a ticket ?

Very poor mamangement of this whole thing.

I would say "Fine, I'm not going to fish here anymore" but unfortunately The Mad is one of my favourite spots.

Another cash grab for very little effort.

Any body that wants a dock and a better launch at Claybank better be careful what u wish for. That's a little piece of water, and you may find it quite nice out there, peaceful and not to busy. Put a good dock and a good launch in and wishing they hadn't.

As for Braeside, yeah, they are probably gonna try and recoup their losses from the atrocity of the new launch they built last year. People smarter than me decided the best place for it would be right in the corner of back eddy where the prevailing winds and ice push any piece of debris and sediment. Its unusable this year.
