As a tour organizer I have pretty much hung up my rods, so my days of zero's are over anyways! I can say it was refreshing to see Mr.Shibata (renegade bass) voice his opinion against this type of insult towards their anglers!
I have to chime in on this part of the post. Cbanford...if you are taking to heart a comment meant to be directed to an individual and or team and somehow think it is directed to all the brotheren of tourney fishing then maybe it was time to hang up the rods. I may not be a professional or semi pro angler but I was once a well sought after draft pick for baseball and if I felt every comment to one individual was directed to us all then I would have driven myself crazy. I am 100% sure that this was directed to those individuals only and not the core group as a whole. I also would like to think that someone as respected as Paul and as good of a guy as Paul did not intend that also. I am sure he has had his share of knockdowns and blow out punches directed his way and as a true professional you need to direct that negative energy in other directions and not take things so personally. In my little years of learning wisdom I have learned that not everything in life needs to be about everyone unless you crave the attention something like this brings and rides it for a while. I do not know you Cbanford and have no reason not to respect you or your thoughts but from one person who has dealt with this pressure to another....It's not always about you!!
All about me, that's a good one! Just so you are aware I hung up my rods to give guys a kick butt series to fish! If I paid myself $2 per hour all year for the time I work for the series, the prize payouts would be, well the teams would need to hand me a cheque at the end of the day. I stay on shore all day to set up a stage, and prepare for charity events, prepare for 60/70/80 boats to come bring in their catch! This thread has absolutly nothing to do with me! It has to so with insulting a teams struggles, and as a organizer and a angler I have a problem with that! As I mentioned tour guys are a close group, insult 1 your insulting us all! The proof in that is the overwhelming replies from other anglers on this post!
Now just tell me I'm doing it for the money and I will have the biggest laugh ever!
About me! What a joke!!!
I dont understand how you can read all that and still think I meant you?? I used the term " it's not all about you" as a general thought to make a general statement that one should not take something so personal that was not intended for that one person. If I re read the title of this post it is Team #28 not all of Renegade and bass guys in general. Now onto your last statement about tell me I am in it for the money?? Where the fluke did that come from man?? Holy cargo do you really think I give a spro rat what you do with your personal time. I fully respect you for putting on and helping with this great series...Full respect and dont think for one second that again you are the only one in this world that does stuff for their own good. I work over 600hrs every year with the Lions CLub in town helping out with events, fundraisers and helping people who need help. Not once do I ever expect a pat on the back or the glden cookie given to me. it is something I choose to do every day out of the goodness of my heart as a community person. NOT ONCE DO I ASK FOR A THANKS.!!!! So on that last stupid point you made I now understand that you like to be a part of things that have no relevance to you and will not try and help you out with lessons in life on not taking on others problems. You run that series as best you can and have all the guys praise you if you want but when you start to take individuals problems as a group problem then maybe that group needs to go back to basics and enjoy what they got into this for which is a great time on the water with fellow buddies and comrades. I am thinking of a joke to tell you but all the ones I know are not appropriate for the board so the only joke being told is Smitty's rant about Team #28 and the 0 fish they caught.
Oh P.S. I got skunked a few days ago myself and im still fishing and enjoying my life! Starzar and Mav are big boys who I think can handle things very well themselves without having one of their own drag the community into it.
Paul: I personally feel you are a great ambasador to the renegades series and fishing in general and respect your htoughts as well so I want to know if you took this post as a personall insult to you and the series. If so then maybe my views on life are a little bit more relaxed than most. I also feel that Team #28 gained a bunch of respect from me for how they handled this post...which concidering was directed at them only I find very admirable and grown up.
As for most posts online the intent intended may be intended wrong....enough said..now back to organizing another event to raise money for people who need help!!

P.S. I do not have a dog in this hunt but I decided since everyone's panties are wadded up in a bunch, I would wad mine up too and take offense at everything that everyone has written.
From Rj's observations Paul's well written response, To Cprince's thoughts. You are all wrong. No you are all correct. No it doesn't matter The world revolves around me. There are not enough Bird pictures. Don't take OOs pictures. Muskies aren''t a real game fish the mighty rock bass is! All hail the red-eye!

I thought that because you directed your comment to Me!!!
You started it towards me and finished it towards me, by calling my name out twice! So ya I sure assumed you were saying it directly at me that it's "all about me!"
I don't ever expect a pat on the back! I do it because I love it, and because the teams sure seam to love it also!
Good on you for doing the community work you do, I'm sure you get no thanks, nor expect any in return
Which reminds me for those with little ones, brockville police is putting on a kids derby for big brother and sitters at ribfest tomorrow from 9-12. It's free, but donations are welcome as it's for big brothers and big sitters! I will be there helping out, hope to see some fh members bring kids down to have a fish then stuff ur bellies with ribs for lunch!

I apologize for misunderstanding your post!
I do get defensive when it comes to the effort my series puts in, and other series such as renegade for that matter! A lot of volunteered time, thankless time! Is put in and that cool because it's for the love of the sport, not for us personally!

See I've cruised the board for a while, and I've never noticed anything remotely close to bullying, then again I'm not privvy to PM's. I've always taken Smitty for a level-headed fella, so they must have done SOMETHING. Where's the smoking gun?
The above, only dances on and strattles the line of unfunniness.
The 2 dudes in question have been nothing but classy in this thread—though I imagine it's fairly easy to do when you know all eyes are watching.
Everyone cheer up—it's Friday.

Just like Cory Banford, I feel tournament guys are out to get each other, but in the end we're a group and we stick together.
It can be online, on the water or even on the road.. We're a group, I've stopped and helped guys with engine problems on the water, fixed broken leaf spring on trailers, for guys I had NO CLUE who they were. It's about being a man and being there for your fellow man.
It's about the comraderie and the chase, if you don't get that, then I understand why you don't fish tournaments..
Thanks for your input about my opinion, means a lot to me

I also enjoyed the camaraderie with the other folks, but it only took a few Nancies much like yourself that ruined it for everyone else with their nonsense know-it-all attitude. That doesn't mean that I took issue with ALL tournament fisher-people and paint them all with the same brush. Much like this site, it only took a few jerks to ruin the whole experience for everyone. Before you quote this please reread that again.

Let this be "The Post that Ends It".
Yesterday I had typed up something to post to Smitty's original message, which frankly I felt was a little below the belt.
But... after writing it, I said to myself "i don't know this guy. I don't know if he's serious or sarcastic, and i don't know the nature of his beef with these Team 28 guys" - so I hit the delete button and never posted what I had to say at the time. Plus I'm a newbie and I don't really want to go out of my way to offend a complete stranger...
So, today what do I see? Page after page of what? Nothing about fishing, mostly just about ego and who wronged who and why so and so said this or that...
I have to admit I even had a good laugh at those of you who could probably benefit by learning a little "keyboard restraint" yourselves.
Here's the bottom line: The Fish Gods are watching, my friends. The only barbs we should be throwing are those on our hooks - into the water for some Fat BASS, not at eachother *(preferably.)

Re: TEAM 28
Pembrokespanky - Some people take fishing seriously because its their right too. Those who play hockey, take hockey very seriously. Those who play football, take football very seriously. There is nothing wrong with a passionate individual trying to master ones interest. Whether it be competitive fishing, hockey, horseshoes whatever it may be. In fact it is an admirable trait. Some fish for a relaxing get away from the annoying spouse etc. or its a form of therapy or maybe all combined who knows what everyone's reasons are. So I say pick up the Cumaras, maybe even buy another one. And try harder. And youll notice that the guys who take fishing seriously in this thread were the ones to quickly defend the Dufours.
Smitty55 Swinging for the fence can be used as an excuse for sure. But its a common choice made by tournament anglers very often. Ive done it many times. Sometimes your the hero sometimes your the zero. We were sitting 2nd place in a Renegade Classic for the Ranger boat. Day 2 we wanted big fish only. We wanted and needed that boat. We went to a few places where we caught 4-5lb bass in practice. Only to find out they were no longer there, time was our enemy. Time won! We ended up fourth last only weighing in 1 fish for 2.30lb day #2. Sure we could of played it safe and maybe got a small limit of fish in other locations. But i nthis scenario in our eyes if we werent 1st we were last. I think the Dufours now know they swung for the fence possibly at the wrong time. But lessons are learned from all our on the water choices.
Those guys sure rubbed you the wrong way. Thats a fact. You wouldnt make a public post on this site about it, if it werent true. But responding the way you did to me in my eyes is equally as bad in a way. You went out of your way to publicly humiliate them. If the issue was between you guys whyd you make it public? Sometimes less is more. In this case a smug grin next time you see them could have been more of an impact then what you posted. Although it has got a ton of reads.
To the Dufours you didnt succeed on the Larry it kicked your butt.. Ive been there it hurts..But when days like that occurred it made me want to set a date to go back and figure out how I messed it up. Id go to bed earlier then ever, and get up even earlier just to get back there. Youll figure it out, and when you do it will hit you right in the face! Goodl uck in your future tournaments.
