I was out fishing with a buddy the other day and one of my favorite reels started messing up and sounding like the gears are going.
I mentioned that I hate to throw this reel out because I have caught so many fish with it.
My buddy says he keeps all his old reels on a shelf and just admires them from time to time.
What do you guys do with your old reels.
Do you just chuck them ? or save them for the memories.

Re: How do you retire a favorite old reel
I thought I was the only one!
I've never gotten rid of any reel I've ever owned. I have a few I've owned for over 30 years.
Their days of use are long gone, I just don't have the heart to clear them out. So many memories.
There's no grandiose display or anything. They just collect dust on a shelf.

I have a glass front cabinet I keep mine in. I have too many fond memories to part with them...
