This fishing has been great on the Ottawa recently, I've been wading around the city scouting some new spots and found a bunch of pike! On a good day i would easily catch 10 pike averaging 25 inches, biggest I've seen this fall was a chunky 32 incher. The big eyes have been moving into the shallows the past few weeks, i'm not getting many numbers but if you hook into one there's a good chance it'll be a biggun.
I catch and release almost all the time but here's a few pics of the ones that made it to the dinner table
I've been getting skunked regularly on the Rideau in town lately! No bites on Texas or wacky rigged senkos, nothing hitting 5" swimbaits, poppers. Trying super slow retrieve, fast retrieve, nothing...
Dead. Maybe I have to get out in the canoe and get deeper.

I never have much luck fishing the Rideau in the fall, the Ottawa River would be your best bet. Spinner baits were working good near the end of September but recently the bigger pike have been hitting musky lures more than anything.
Yesterday went out in the canoe actually. Fishing partner landed a 4.75lbs smallmouth! Big huge football. I got a tiny 16" healthy pike (first pike in the Rideau) and a pretty big smallmouth too but didn't measure it.
Those were the only bites we got in 2+ hrs. Windy.
