Ever happen to you...?
Was out fishing the Ottawa River on Monday targeting bass for a tourney coming this Saturday, Had a rough go at it for bass but did have something very interesting happen.
We were spinnerbaiting the shoreline by Torso when a had a nice hit. The fish head shoked like crazy and it had a couple good runs before dogging it under the boat. All I saw was a big flash and I thought I had a really good bass. Once I got the fish out from under the boat I was so shocked to see what I had on the end of the line....drum roll please...it was a catfish and a nice one too (about 5 lbs or so).
Just goes to show that you can catch any fish on any lure at any time, the conditions just have to be right I guess.
Look for my article is Catfish Canada Magazine...Spinnerbaits for Cats, the untold technique...lol!
Cheers,
Mike

i caught one on a small mepps spinner casting for smallmouth. It hit just like a bass and I thought for sure I had a dandy. I have also caught a cat on a Husky Jerk. I find the more that I fish the more fish I catch in unusal ways, Walleyes on Spinnerbaits and Topwater, whitefish on a husky jerk, all sorts of weird things. I just makes every outing more interesting.

Actually!
I caught one just yesterday while flipping a tube around docks. Funny thing is, I caught him as I was reeling in the tube as fast as I could to cast to a new spot!
