Our first overnighters enjoyed the excellent early season walleye fishing that the Bay is known for. A fun mid-day bite kept everyone chasing tip-ups all day.
The night time ling bite has been a sure thing this year and offers a fun night time bite after the walleye evening rush has passed. A yearly group from Kingston enjoyed their customary ling fish fry among other tasty treats.
Many people are surprised to land channel catfish in the huts, but they are actually quite common in January. Our guests have caught close to 10 this winter with most of them being 3 to 6lbs. A great fight.
A group from Oshawa had me scratching my head as they caught more pike in their 3 days than we did all of last year. The rain had slowed down the deep bite, so these Oshawa boys spent most of their time inside the bay enjoying some good sized toothy critters.
The bay is known for it's short, yet furious feeding windows. Yann certainly witnessed that. An all-nighter paid off huge when he landed a 22'' walleye and 3 pike over 30'' in the span of 30 minutes starting at around 5am. Word is, for those 30 minutes, there was always somebody fighting a fish in the bungalow.
The deep bite started to pick up again this weekend and some nice walleye moved in for Andre and his buddies from Toronto. Fishing neophytes, they outfished all the other huts in the bay over the weekend. Our 4 man bungalow, the one pictured here (no, not the green one), has been by far our most productive this year for whatever reason.
Our weekends are all booked up for winter 2018 (except for Superbowl Sunday) but we'd love to have you in on a weeknight. $60 per person per night gets you a bunk, bait, holes, and satellite tv.
