Dont know the Ottawa River

Hi all,

I know a number of you are Ottawa River specialists, and ill be spending a weekend at a cottage on Brown's Bay and was wondering if anyone has any tips for that area of the river.

Walleye? Muskie? Pike? Bass? Cats?

Anything really.

I've never fished that part of the River, and have actually only been on the River at all once and that was with RJ so i think i was spoiled.

Any tips would be awesome.

I know of a Browns Bay on the St Laurence but not the Ottawa river. Where abouts is it located?

Brown's Bay is essentially where Renfrew is, but on the River.

Thats just below the chenaux dam.

You are going to be dealing with lots of current on a narrow stretch of rock river. Plenty of fish up there, though I rarley venture up past the narrows that would lead me to browns bay. If you leave the narrows heading downstream, make sure you have a motor strong enough to bring you back up.

Seriously, watch out for rocks and deadheads. There is plenty of both up there.

Browns Bay is about 5 minutes from my families cottage. Been a while since I've done serious fishing there but still my favourite body of water. Send me a pm of you think of more questions

Ok the trip to Brown's Bay (Ottawa river) is a few weeks away. Ill take any advice that anyone may have about the area, colours, tackle, etc.

Some cut bait on the bottom in the evenings will likley get you some cats in that part of the river.

perfect, there is a deep hole (about 40' deep) about 200 yards from the end of the dock, i was planning on taking the tinny out one night with some chicken liver and just going for the bottom.
