New to fishing!!

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

New to fishing!!

Post by ericasc11 »

Hi There!

I just recently got into fishing, and discovered that I love it! Now I just don't really know where to look when on the water.. May sounds silly, but I'm not sure where to look for the fish, whether that is close to shore or out in the middle of the water. I do have access to a boat, but no fish finder. No judging on the newbie here please!

As for types of fish, I'll take anything! I've caught mooneye, small & largemouth bass so far, but like I said, if I catch any fish I'll be happy haha

Thanks in advance!

Ericasc11: Figure out which species you want to target, learn what you can about them, and spend time on the water. Nothing like time on the water. Some electronics for your boat would be a big help too. At Paddletales, we have a drop in on Thursday nights as well (although I'll miss this week as I have a fundraiser to attend) and that would be a good way to meet anglers and ask questions too. We sell electronics as well (shameless Paddletales plug  )

It's a great sport with a loooong learning curve, and some of the finest people around participate.
