The splake were suspended at depths from 20 to 70 feet, and I fished for them from a canoe with small spoons baited with bits of cut minnow, trolled on leadcore line using a Fenwick PLP 55 and ABU 6000C. The PLP is a 2-piece muskie rod that can withstand the strain of trolling leadcore, and I find it easy to pack and transport to remote back lakes.

Some 1 ¾ to 2 lb. splake (stocked as fingerlings in 2017) caught that day on a hammered blue chrome Devle-Dog.
