Ont Record Muskie

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Wasn't the present record caught on 10 pound test???

The way I see it, if that's true, that's still a pretty cool record.

The Ontario record muskie weighed 65 pounds and measured 58 inches in length and 30.5 inches in girth. Toronto's Ken O'Brien caught the brute on October 16, 1988, in Georgian Bay's Blackstone Harbour, Moon River Basin.

It was caught on a 4" Rapala on 8lb test while he was fishing for walleye. The fish was not released.

The Canadian Live Release record is 62.25" x 27.50" (Approx. 57 lb.'s) caught by Bill Craig on July 12, 1997 in the Ottawa River near Hull.

If that is the rumored record fish, I think the current 65lbs record will stand. Definently a dandy fish but looks a little slim to be 68lbs, 48lbs sounds more realistic. Marc Thorpe for sure he certainly knows how to get the pigs. I have never fished with him but here nothing but great things.
