I am listed as one of the boaters if you are looking for a ride for the weekend let me know. I don't know what species you would like to target I would prefer bass but I can go for walleye if need be I do have the gear for fishing eyes drop me a line

The area directly below the 'E' in Quinte on the map is Indian Point and the open water gap between the south shore and Amherst Island opening into Lake Ontario is the Lower Gap. A large number of the walleye will move into Quinte from the lake via this route. Not to mention you have Salmon, Rainbow and Browns in the same area (Lakers also but season is closed right now)...plus the warm water out flow from the hydro plant on the north shore. :wink:

It's Derby Time!

Who's in?...I'm thinking $10 entry....

half pot for big walleye....

half pot for big bass.....

what about a $25 prize for biggest sheepie?

does everyone have a livewell?...that would help alot weighing them on the same scale....

I don't want to go by length again....true weight on a digi scale...

we all have to be careful in not having a slot sized fish in a well at any time....

Walleye should be length.

Sheep head can just be brought to the dock..dead/alive in my opinion.

Bass...I have no clue..livewells and a live weigh in at the dock is fairest, but I'm not sure if everyone has a scale.

We're in.
If we're gonna use a scale, it has to be the same scale across the board. And not RJ's, it is not very generous.

I still think walleyes are best judged by length in the event that someone does not have a livewell. Besides, we are already mesuring the length for the official FH derby right now anyway.

A Walleye in your livewell is considered your limit of one big fish for the day,running back and forth to weigh more than one eye over the slot is a possession problem :roll: .Why not just measure the eye with a witness on board,then if most have a radio on board,we can find out what the big fish is on the spot and release any we catch under that top length.If would save on livewell problems. :wink: roughrider

I'll wait to see what Muskiemagnet wants to fish for before deciding. If we're targeting Muskie a fair amount, not much point in me entering.

I have 2 digital scales as well I can bring...As MT says, as long as it's the same scale across the board:!:

Length wont work for the walleye...at this time of the year a 30" walleye could weight 9lb or 12lbs. Not to mention you will have four or five walleye around the 32" mark for the weekend so it will be hard to figure out which is bigger

I think at this time of year it should be by boat and the total number of walleye 30" or over for the weekend Starting Friday 9pm and ending Sunday at noon.

I will not place any walleye in my livewell...a quick picture, hug and back they go. :wink:

Only problem with that is the fact that some boats have 3 people in them vs. 2 people.... :?

Good point....

Not sure how you will do it... :wink:

You may have to go by cm for length because the big eyes are going to be very close in size. :D

Maybe if you are the only one who isn't going to be bringing a big girl we could get you to weigh them on your scale before release....then use your scale when you get back in....am I making sense?.. :lol: :lol:
