I was just looking around for turkey fryers and came across this video. Kinda scary Maybe the video is a little exaggerated but I'm sure there are safety concerns. Obviously they over filled the pot for the demonstration but the part about the oil igniting because the fryer doesn't have a thermostatic control seems real. I'm having second thoughts about buying one. As this ever happened to anyone
Before filling with oil, fill with water and put the bird in to see where the oil level is going to be and mark it. This should help in avoiding any boil over.
Funny you post that DV_8. Was chatting with the Misses last night about her new fryer and she said she was gonna call Big-O to get some tips. I guess there are about 1 million warnings in the directions about how easily this thing can catch fire. She's undertandably a little nervous. I'll be sure she sees this.
Put the bird in slowly and if it wants to boil too much pull it up and than put back in slowly. Use a broom handle and two people is better than a gloved hand. and not a bad idea to turn off the burner when putting in the bird.
use outside
check the lines
make sure the ground is level
put water in first
then put bird in
then take bird out
then take water out
then dry fried bird
then put oil in bird
then but bird in water
turn bird on
fry the house..........
*sigh* back to the directions.........
