No ice or fish on the Rideau today...

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

No ice or fish on the Rideau today...

Post by Weeder »

The good news is the water is wide open again. The bad news is the water was murky brown today and nothing was biting. I did have one hit/miss but she never came back.

Oh well...a nice day just the same.

Simon,
I did everything today. It was strange, I have never fished in chocolate milk before. All the river launches were frozen over for a few days and then we had several days in a row of nice weather, with no wind. I thought today would be fantastic. Light winds, lots of sun, hungry fish (because nobody else had a chance to contact them for the last few days because of the ice), but I was wrong. I casted all of my muskie lures - nothing - I trolled - nothing - I drifted with sucker minnows - nothing. The only action I had for 4-5 hours happened in the first ten minutes while drifting with a minnow. I was a victim of a hit/miss/goodbye - the sucker minnow was whacked, and gashed, but he/she never came back. It was strange, the water was thick and brown - like chocolate milk, and I kept thinking to myself - "I bet you can't drink it slow.."

I talked to three other boats, and none of them had any luck today. I blame it on the Argos.....

Hey, Weeder; at least you got out there and sometimes that's good enough. Wonder what it was that you missed.

W.
Thanks, Dad, for taking me fishing when I was a kid.
