Nation River ice

Im going to check if there people fishin the Nation Casselman this afternoon if theres some people all go but if theres nobody I wont go. Like I was saying before better be safe than sorry. The fish would be there another day.

Actualy i will be going there this weekend in caselmen on the nation
at the cross where the nation and the castor join together

its a good spot i did catch some nice pike and walley there,,,,,,,,

I saw some guy caught a 9lb walley there a realy nice one,,it was 2 year ago during the ice tornement,,,,,,,,,,,,

there is a lot off fish there............all kind,,,,,,catfish ,pike,walley,crappys
eels,perch,and all others,,,,,,,,,,,


last year i went there on the 19 dec,,,,,,,,the ice was 4 inch no snow,
but there was a lot off curent,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Hi everybody the ice is now safe at the cross where the Nation and Castor meet theres 8 inches of solid ice now there I went this afternoon with my buddy and did'nt catch any but thats part of the game. A guy came and almost as soon he put is line in the water caught a walleye of at lease 5 pound and my fishin buddy caught 3 walleyes and 3 perch and almost everybody had luck except me.

I am going back tommorow afternoon if anybody want to go Im a tall guy with a camou suit and a camou bomber and I got a white silverado extended cab 4x4.

I went back today and I maneged to get 3 walleyes 3.5lbs 2lbs and 1lbs
and lost 3 more one of my buddy get 5 walleyes another guy had 5 walleyes also and my other buddy get 2 walleyes. A pretty nice afternoon there today and a pretty good day. Probably going back tomorow if weather permitting.

I fished nation river in the summer at cassleman off exit 66 of 417 . Lot's of pike and walleye but water looks quite poluted. I fished belowed the dam but heard there 's also fish below the railway bridge near the boat launch. Are we talking the same place? if so, which part of the river do you guys fish?

We're up river from you! It's where the Nation meets the Castor river.

Never fished there but being so close now will be there shortly.

there is,,,,or there was last year some minnows at the sport store
just beside the tim horton there is a restaurent and the sport store together,,,,,,,,,,

I will check it out during Christmas. Ice fishing is a better way to spend the holiday than boxing day shopping, plus I 've learned that there is no good stuff in boxing day sale.

my plan is to get minnow in petrie first.

one last question, could somebody tell me how to get there? ( where nation meets castor )

IF you come frome ottawa on the 417, you go out on the caselman ,after you turn on you left ,you will past over the 417 , go strait , after i think you turn left again at the restaurent just before the church,,,,,,,after you will do about 2 or 3 km and chek on your wright you will see some fisherman on ice you will past under the 417,,,,,,,


whene you come frome ottawa ,,just a bit before you get to caselman
you will past over the nation river chek on you right you can see where
the castor and the nation river join,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

I went yesterday and the ice is still ok still 10inches of ice there but the current was stronger because of the rain we had wednesday.

Going back tomorrow afternoon if anybody want to fish with me your more than welcome.

HI the same thing appens last year we had a lt off rain in november and
whene i went on the nation i couldnt bring my line to go down it went right under the ice to mutch curent..........
