Clayton Lake Advice?

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Clayton Lake Advice?

Post by JustinHoffman »

Hello All,
Been thinking about trying a new lake this ice season, and have read a few reports regarding Clayton Lake. As I've never fished it, here's a couple of questions..
Does it have a decent walleye and panfish bite through the ice?
What are the general areas those that fish it concentrate on?
And lastly, where are the specific spots around the lake for parking and access onto the ice?
Thanks in advance, guys..
Good Fishing,
Justin

Great for Walleye "pickeral" access at claytonlakeside campground off of tatlock road.
Focus near shacks theyre there for a reason. And no not just to drink lol! I never drink when I fish I gofor the outing. Concentrate on 10-20ft of water from 3pm-6pm best for me.

Thanks for the reply, Spence - helpful tips there.
Anyone else have any advice (good or bad) to give on the lake and the ice fishing?
Thanks,
Justin

Where would the closest place to buy live minnows be to the Clayton/Taylor lake areas?

I think you'd have to go to Baitcasters or Perth.

Thank you, that's what I thought. I was hoping that maybe there was somewhere closer that I hadn't heard of. I've never been to Baitcasters, this'll give me a reason to go check it out.

The closest place to get minnows, is hillside bait farms on Waba Road, probably the cheapest to, but might be trickier to get to if you dont know the area.
