What baitcasters do you own?

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

What baitcasters do you own?

Post by Spence Scout »

Just curios to what everyone is using to haul in those prize catches?
This is what I've currently got!

Team Daiwa-S 103hvla (x2)
Basspro Xps Rick Clunn signature series (x2) Flippin Reels
Shimano Curado 201B5
Shimano Curado 201BSF

Those are my six weapons of choice

Looking for a decent spinning combo now....

I know some dont agree with me, but I have always beena big fan of abu garcia!

My two spinning and baitcasting rods are both abu's.

Both my spinning reels are abu Cardinals.

And both my baitcasters are both abu eon's!

Both musky reels are abu ambassadeurs! And they most definately have never let me down!!

I love all of them and am really going to work those baitcasters this spring since I used to only use spinning gear, but I have come to realize it takes a little bit of skill to flip with a spinning reel lol!

Best thing about abu products to are the fact that they are generally fairly priced!

I have a Shimano Curado. Was going to sell it, couldn't get the hang of it. That was the bad boy that help me land my first musky this year.

So it will have a place in my heart. Seaweed is going to show me how to use it properly........Hopefully a few more to come....

I have and Abu Eon; 5601 I believe. Left-Handed. Troll with it for pickeral. Can't cast with the smaller lures; just big one for pike. Every time I cast my linegoes out on a 90 degree angle. Perhaps it is the 6 foot rod I am not used to as the casting arc differs from a 7 foot rod with more action.

Cheers,

Scott

Here is what I got:

2 Abu Garcia EONs
1 Shimano Curado (Not super free)
1 Quantum Energy PTX
1 Pflueger Trion

Here are the reels best features:

EONs - drag is awesome. Easily set and lots of variablility.
Curado - Probably the best overall reel for the money ($180).
PTX - Solid reel. Smooth and no play in the reel. Is expensive.
Trion - Nice reel. This has the best free spool that I have seen.

Curado is my favorite.

Cheers,

Mike

Baitcasters:

Calcutta, just love it
Citica, laying around somewhere, haven't use it in a while
Old Abu goldmax caught Kesagami Lake lodge's biggest pike in 1999
Old round Abu blackmax, caught a musky on my 3rd cast with it.

The best bang for the buck that I have seen is Buck's quantum EX-500. Old and still a staple to this day.

Spinning.

Shimano Sahara
Old Abu Ultra-cast, a workhorse that still sees plenty of fish
Shimano Symetre 1000, for ultralight and ice-fishing.
Quantum Hypercast

Gotta love Shimano tuff and they never let up down!

2 Super Free Castaics
2 Super Free Chronarchs
1 Chronarch Mg
1 Super Free Curado
1 Callutta TE 200GT
1 Callutta TE 200DC
2 Stradic 2500 Mg

Once you get the hang of a baitcaster you'll rarely use a spincaster again.
